Mary's fleet reached the coast of Roscoff on 15 August 1548. Mary set foot on French soil in front of the Saint-Ninian Chapel where she would have given thanks for her safe journey. The chapel was destroyed in 1932 but the arched door and font were incorporated into the wall of one of the houses named "Marie Stuart".
